Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the Advantage Portsmouth Concrete website and any estimate, quote or job you arrange with us. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking work, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work through it.
When we agree on a job, the written estimate or contract for that job is the main agreement between us. If it says something different from this page, the written estimate or contract wins for that job.
What we do
Advantage Portsmouth Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Portsmouth, VA. We pour and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings, foundations and other concrete work, and we serve Portsmouth and the cities around it. You can see the full list of services on our home page and read more about the crew on our about page.
The descriptions on this site are general. The work we do for you is the work written in your estimate or contract, and nothing beyond it unless we both agree to it in writing.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates are free and come with no obligation to book. Each one is based on what we can see on site and what you tell us, including the size of the area, how much digging out and base work it needs, access for the truck and any old concrete that has to come out.
Some conditions only show up once the job is open, such as soft or wet ground under the old slab, buried debris, roots or hidden pipes. If we find something that changes the scope or the price, we stop and talk with you before doing extra work, and we put any change in writing.
An estimate holds for the period written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we may need to update it before we schedule the work.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We give you a start date when you book, but concrete depends on the weather. We won't pour in heavy rain, freezing temperatures or other conditions that would weaken the slab, so we may move your date when the forecast calls for it, and we'll let you know as soon as we decide.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, tell us as early as you can. If we've already ordered material, rented equipment or prepared the site, you may owe for those costs, as your estimate or contract describes.
After the pour, new concrete needs time to cure, which means time to harden before it's used. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on it, and we're not responsible for damage caused by using it sooner.
Payment
Your estimate or contract sets out the price, any deposit and when payments are due. Unless it says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is finished.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's paid, and we may add late fees or collection costs where the contract and Virginia law allow.
Your part of the job
We need clear access to the work area on the scheduled day, so please move vehicles, furniture and anything else that's in the way. Let us know about sprinkler lines, buried wires, septic parts or anything else underground that we might not see.
You're responsible for property lines and for any homeowners' association approvals your property needs, unless we've agreed in writing to handle them. If a permit is needed, the estimate or contract will say who arranges it.
Warranties and what concrete does
Any warranty on our work is the one written in your contract, and it covers only what it names. Outside that written warranty, our work and this website are provided as they are, without other promises.
Concrete can develop small hairline cracks as it shrinks and the ground moves. We cut control joints, grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, to keep cracking where we choose, but no contractor can promise a slab that never cracks. Small color differences and surface variation are also normal and aren't defects.
No warranty covers damage from misuse, heavy loads beyond what the slab was built for, deicing salts, tree roots, flooding, ground settling outside the work area, or repairs made by someone else.
Limits on our liability
To the extent Virginia law allows, Advantage Portsmouth Concrete isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your property or lost income, connected with our work or this website. Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and may change without notice. It isn't a quote and it isn't engineering advice for your property. Prices, timing and methods for your job come from your estimate.
The words, photos and design on this site belong to Advantage Portsmouth Concrete. Please don't copy them for business use without our permission.
Resolving a problem
If something about our work isn't right, call us at (757) 731-7248 or reach us through our contact page first. Most problems are settled quickly once we come back out and look, and we'll try in good faith to put things right.
If we can't settle it by talking, either of us may take the matter to the courts serving Portsmouth, Virginia.
Governing law
These terms and any job we do for you are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the newest version will always be on this page. A change won't affect a job already under a signed estimate or contract unless we both agree to it.
If you have a question about these terms, get in touch through our contact page.
